DKLB BKLN Receives LEED Silver Certification

September 29, 2011 – (Brooklyn, NY) DKLB BKLN (formerly 80 Dekalb) received LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Located in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, DKLB BKLN is a 34-story apartment tower completed in 2010. The project has been open for more than a year and is currently 97.3% leased. It is jointly owned by National's Commingled Real Estate Investment Fund and Forest City Ratner.
DKLB BKLN secured its LEED Silver certification due to its unparalleled access to transportation as well as its efficient design. The building has an urban lantern design that allows for abundant natural light (as well as spectacular views) reducing energy consumption and costs. It has easy access to ten subway lines and nine bus routes as well as convenient ground floor bicycle storage. The project uses energy efficient appliances, low thermal emitting glass, and low VOC paints, carpets and sealants. All of these features make DKLB BKLN contribute to a more healthy and sustainable urban environment.
