Firm History

National Real Estate Advisors (National) was founded in January 2010 as the primary real estate investment manager of the National Electrical Benefit Fund (NEBF) and is wholly-owned by NEBF itself.  National’s investment professionals consist entirely of NEBF’s former in-house real estate staff, which successfully generated superior investment returns for more than a decade.  To learn more about NEBF and its history of providing stable retirement benefits to union electricians across North America, click here.

Now, as an independent real estate investment advisor, National is able to offer its deep experience and real estate expertise to other institutional investors...

Although NEBF’s history of real estate investment dates back to the Fund’s founding in 1946, in the late 1990’s NEBF’s Trustees took steps to build a professional, in-house real estate investment program. Known as NEBF Real Estate, the program eventually grew to become one of the most sophisticated in-house real estate investment management programs in the country.  Key to that growth was the consistent addition of skilled professionals to the in-house staff, who brought diverse backgrounds in various real estate-related disciplines.  The group focused almost exclusively on new development of virtually every commercial property type, which resulted in the creation of superior investment returns and millions of union labor hours.  Investment structures, including joint venture equity, various debt instruments and credit enhancement, among others, were routinely applied to suit the needs of a particular development project.  Flexibility has been, and continues to be, a hallmark of NEBF’s real estate investment approach.  The result was a program which generated investment returns consistently in excess of market benchmarks.

Now, as an independent real estate investment advisor, National is able to offer its deep experience and real estate expertise to other institutional investors through discretionary or non-discretionary separate account management, and soon through its flagship commingled investment vehicle, INDURE Fund.  National is also able to provide direct real estate investment management or advisory services on a standalone basis to qualified institutional investors.  National will also continue to serve as the primary real estate investment manager for NEBF, both on a commingled and separate account basis.
