National Anounces Substantial Change to Firm's Investment Committee

May 6, 2010 (Washington, DC)  National Real Estate Advisors today announced an important change to the firm’s Investment Committee. Marshall D. Lees and Mitchell C. Schneider will be joining Kenneth P. Riggs, Jr. and National’s President and CEO Jeffrey J. Kanne on the committee immediately.  Paul H. Saylor will continue in his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors of National and will continue to provide assistance and advice to the committee as needed, but will no longer serve as a voting member. Investment decisions on behalf of clients of National require the unanimous approval of the Investment Committee, three-quarters of whom will now be completely independent of the firm. No independent member of the committee will receive compensation tied to the number of approved investments, money under management or similar criteria.

Mitchell Schneider brings over 25 years of real estate development and related expertise to National’s Investment Committee. After practicing real estate law for approximately five years, Mr. Schneider founded First Interstate Properties, Ltd. in Lyndhurst, Ohio. As President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, he directed the company’s growth from a de novo entity to a full-service retail real estate development firm. Mr. Schneider also founded Legacy Capital Partners, a real estate investment fund which has raised over $100 million in private equity targeted for investment in retail and multi-family rental projects.

Marshall Lees has held various executive and senior management positions in real estate and other industries in the U.S., Britain and Canada over a 32-year career. Most recently, Mr. Lees was Executive Vice President – Life Sciences Estates for HCP, Inc., a $14 billion healthcare REIT headquartered in Long Beach, California. The majority of Mr. Lees’ career was spent with SEGRO (formerly Slough Estates plc), a multi-billion dollar REIT headquartered in the UK, but with substantial operations in the US and Canada.

The National Real Estate Advisors Investment Committee is responsible for approving all new investments as well as other material investment decisions on behalf of National’s co-mingled fund and separate-account investors. The committee meets at least once per month, or more frequently as necessary. More information about individual members can be found at the Investment Committee webpage.

“Marshall Lees and Mitchell Schneider bring a wealth of real estate investment and management expertise to National. Ken Riggs and I look forward to serving with them, and to the added perspective they will bring to the investment committee” Kanne said.
